Dental Cleaning
Dental cleaning is a vital procedure that removes dental plaque, a sticky bacterial film on teeth and gums. Plaque can lead to tooth decay and gum disease and often appears brown or pale yellow. During a cleaning, our hygienists focus on eliminating this buildup and polishing the teeth, which restores their surfaces and effectively removes most stains. Regular dental cleanings are essential for maintaining good hygiene and preventing more serious dental issues over time.
Digital X-rays
At Star Smiles, we use advanced digital X-ray technology for precise diagnostics in your dental care. Unlike traditional X-rays, digital X-rays use sensors to capture detailed images of teeth and gums, helping diagnose problems not visible during exams. This method reduces radiation exposure by about 80%, ensuring safety for both patients and the environment. By allowing image viewing from various angles, digital X-rays enhance treatment planning and reflect our commitment to high-quality dental care.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatment helps strengthen tooth enamel and reduce the risk of decay. This mineral is essential for making teeth more resistant to acids produced by bacteria. While effective against early decay, fluoride works best when combined with good oral hygiene, balanced nutrition, and regular dental visits. Safe for all ages, some fluoride products may temporarily dull teeth, but this effect fades quickly. Teaching children proper oral care is essential for maintaining their dental health.
Sealants
Dental sealants provide a protective barrier for the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars, helping prevent cavities. These surfaces often have deep pits that are hard to clean, making them prone to decay from trapped bacteria. Applying sealants effectively seals these fissures, significantly reducing cavity risk in children and teenagers. Typically lasting about eight years, sealants are checked during routine visits to ensure they remain effective. This preventive measure is crucial for oral health, especially during cavity-prone years.

The First Dental Appointment
Scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their 1st birthday is essential for their oral health. A positive first experience can build trust and comfort, which is vital for future visits. Encourage your child to engage with our doctors and staff, and reassure them that any questions will be answered.
Key Tips
During the visit, the dentist will examine your child’s teeth, gums, and mouth for potential issues. Diagnostic X-rays may be required to identify hidden problems, such as abscesses or cavities. After the assessment, the dentist will provide a treatment plan to enhance and maintain your child’s oral health.
